ESTHER STOCKER: From the Future

Esther Stocker focuses on spatial abstraction and architecture that pulls viewers into a different dimension. Black-and-white geometrical landscapes are created through multiplication of simple shapes and forms, horizontal as well as vertical lines. She creates rhythmical patterns that underline the unyielding character of her works. Repetition of basic elements, shifting of the horizon and playing with the perspective creates the depth as well as volume of the space.

World Refugee Day in Kunsthalle

As part of the program for World Refugee Day Kunsthalle Bratislava invited refugees from various countries, who are currently residing in refugee camps in Gabčíkovo and Rohovce or already living in Slovakia. Artist Daniela Krajčová prepared art workshop for the guests, where participants were drawing maps of their journey.

Flucht oder Emigration?

Ein Diskussionsabend mit der Schriftstellerin Irena Brežná und der Künstlerin Anna Witt. In der derzeitigen Diskussion um die Flüchtlingskrise scheint es oft als ob wir vergessen haben, dass vor 1989 hunderttausende Menschen aus dem sog. Ostblock in den Westen geflohen sind. Menschen, die unter Druck ihr Zuhause verlassen, machen immer eine sehr schwierige Erfahrung durch. Der Diskussionsabend wird sich auf den Zusammenhang zwischen der Emigration und der Situation von Menschen auf der Flucht, sowie auf die künstlerische Darstellung dieser Themen konzentrieren. Restaurant Day - Unknown flavours

Human Rights League's restaurant "Unknown flavours" will offer food not really known and unique in this part of the world. We will serve Afghani mantu ("meat pie" stuffed with beef) and rice called "Kabuli Palaw", Somali donuts qurak and Syrian sambusek ("cheese pie") and fattoush salad (fresh vegetables with pomegranate souce and arabic bread), cooked entirely by refugees living in Slovakia. Join us and meet our chefs - refugees living in Slovakia and get to know each other.

Tomasz Wendland – Hotel de Inmigrantes

Hotel de Inmigrantes is a cyclical project begun in 2012 on the Art Scope Show in New York. I was inspired by the originnal building of quarantaine biult in the habour of Buenos Aires in the 18th Century for the milions of emigrants coming to South America with a hope to begin a new, better life.
