How to overcome the fear of the unknown
Workshop of Pavlína Fichta Čierna
The artist has invited Barbara Lášticová from Institute for Research in Social Communication, Slovak Academy od Sciences and Andrej Fidor from Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava. Several exercises will be introduced in the workshop, showing how diverse practices of contact with the refugees can help to eliminate “fear of the unknown”. Students of the European studies and international relations of the Comenius University will be participating in the workshop.
Workshop will be held in Slovak and English language.

According to Zygmund Bauman fear is a considerable power and has it´s evolution logic. It results in defensive behavior and provokes mechanism of self-production of fear which causes behavior affected by this fear. The disappearance of interpersonal relationships and so called new individualism are the phenomena, which are more and more visible nowadays in connection with the current refugee crisis.
